WALES

WALES
Wales, a country within the United Kingdom, lies to the west of England and is known for its rugged coastline, mountainous national parks, and distinct Celtic identity. Travelling through Wales you’ll encounter medieval castles, rolling green valleys, and a language that feels as ancient as the hills (and nearly impossible to pronounce).
It’s a playground for outdoor lovers—you can hike through Snowdonia, ride your MTB on epic forest trails, and even make a pilgrimage to the famously unpronounceable train station: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Wales is known for hearty dishes like Welsh rarebit and bara brith, but we’ll be taking on the delicious challenge of hunting down the best vegan eats across the country.
ROADTRIPPING WALES
Wales has never really been on our list—but somehow, this year, it made the cut, and we’re pretty excited about it! The best part: we can drive there, which means Pepe, our four-legged travel buddy, gets to come along. Yeahhh! We’re packing the mountain bikes and heading straight for the trails in Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia, with a few hikes thrown in for good measure.
Katharina is taking on the mission to scout out the best vegan food spots, and if the weather gods are kind, we’re hoping to squeeze in some beach time too. Oh, and of course—we’re also very ready to dive headfirst into the Welsh pub culture. Let’s cross fingers for sunshine, muddy trails and cold pints!

Vegan Roadtrip Through Wales
Pints, Paws & Plant-Based Plates
We set off with a van full of hiking boots, oat milk, and dog snacks — and came back with tired legs, happy bellies, and zero regrets. Over three weeks, we explored Wales the muddy, scenic, and surprisingly delicious way.
Here’s where we went:
-
🥾 Brecon & the Beacons – our first stop for mountain hikes, a vegan pub surprise, and those classic Welsh winds.
-
🌊 Newport & the South Coast – seaside strolls, unexpected dog drama, and sunset swims.
-
⛰️ Snowdonia National Park – mountain biking through sheep country, cozy pubs, and the wildest sunset on record.
-
🏊♂️ Marlow & the Thames Swim – finishing things off with a 13k open water swim from Henley to Marlow. Yes, really.
-
🥦 Vegan Food Highlights Across Wales – from tofu scrambles to five-course fine dining, these spots blew our (non-leather) boots off.
Whether you're planning a trip or just in it for the stories, this is our plant-powered journey through Wales – dog, wetsuits, pub chips and all.
