The Marathon des Sables is a six-day, 251 km ultramarathon, which is approximately the distance of six regular marathons with the longest single stage being 91 km. This multiday race is held every year in southern Morocco, in the Sahara Desert and has been regarded as the toughest foot race on Earth. The race has become a symbol of endurance, resilience, and adventure.
WHY...
As someone who loves to push my body and mind to their limits, I decided I need a new challenge after finishing two Full Distance Ironmans.

The Marathon des Sables provides that perfect mix of challenge and adventure while teaching me new things about training, preparation, and nutrition. I will need to carry all my own food and equipment and face scorching temperatures, sandstorms, and limited water supplies.

Lots to learn and a solid sufferfest ahead in the heart of the Saharan Desert.

Why are there two camels taking part in the race?
The Camels are not an actual part of the race but the sweeper team: being overtaken by this friendly convoy unfortunately means you must drop out
