WHEN THE IRONMAN BUG BITES YOU 
Finishing an Ironman ... again

If you've been bitten by the triathlon bug, you have no chance but keep on chasing that finish line. So this is where I find myself in the beginning of 2022 - signed up for a full distance Ironman, stupid enough to think this time it will get easier. 

The whole story wasn't my idea alone. I can blame my friend Hotte on bringing me into this madness. The only thing Hotte finished so far was a bag of cigarettes. But at least he did this on a daily basis. Now he is dedicated to get rid of his bad habits, cut down on the beer, and get himself a training plan.

We will train separately but see each other at the start line in Florida in November 2022.

BEING A VEGAN ATHLETE
Working with a PLANT BASED​ BODY

I've been vegetarian for almost four years and decided to turn vegan in the beginning of 2021 (I just couldn't lie to myself anymore). No meat, no fish, no dairy and eggs ... but enough plant-based protein to fuel off from (isn't all protein plant-based in the beginning?).

The challenge won't be to stay vegan. It will be, as for any athlete, to eat enough, and enough of the right things. Obviously a litte supplement here and there will help.

MIND OVER BODY IN TRIATHLON
It's all about the mind

Training your body is the obvious part in the preparation for an Ironman. But spending roughly 12h just with yourself in the water, on the bike and on the streets, takes a massive toll on your mind as well. Fighting this little guy in your head that tells you to stop, needs some training as well.
