On a sunny winter day you will see quite some hikers and skitouring people on this trail. With the train station in Lenggries being close by this route is also perfectly accessible by train from Munich.
We start our tour at the Parking Ruine Hohenburg and hike up through the woods. It has some steeper section inbetween but overall it's good to manage - just make sure you have at least your Grödel with you. After about 1.5h you reach the Lenggrieser Hütte. From here you have already a great view towards the mountain ranges in the south.
You pass the hut and make your way to the Seekarkreuz, the highlight of the day. Again through the woods before it opens up closer to the peak. Standing on top you have an astonishing 360° view with the Fockenstein and Geierstein in the north and the Roß- and Buchstein towards south.
You take the same way back to the Lenggrieser Hütte where you have the chance to recharge. From here you can choose your way back. to make it a roundtrip, we took the way behind the hut which is first a snowy road before you take a left into the woods.
DOG HIKEABILITY FACTOR: 10/10
