MERANER HÖHENWEG
Dog Trekking through South Tyrol on one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in the Alps.
Following the classic route, but adding some peaks, just for the fun of it, and cover a total of 105km and climb over 6.000m in 7 stages. We will bring two extra challenges on the way. Doing the trip with our dog limits the huts we will be able to sleep in and we need to make sure to bring enough food along for him. Also, traveling in an area well known for its outstanding cheese and bacon, will be interesting for two vegans on the Alps.

We had not tested anything. New shoes, new backpack, never slept with a dog on a hut and 2 vegans on mountains huts, let's see what happens...
DAY 01
MUNICH - HOCHGANGHAUS

Erstes learning. Never drive on a Saturday in August in Italy. Streets are packed…
Lunge fast geplatzt auf den ersten Metern. Rucksack viel zu schwer, ich Dreh um. Duck it!
Korblift als Highlight. Deswegen hier gestartet. Gondelmann hat Pepe reingeworfen :)
Leiteralm bietet keine Übernachtung mehr an, von daher erstes Ziel hochganghaus
Koeblift: 12€ p.P. + kinderticket Hund

DAY 02
HOCHGANGHAUS - NASSREITHÜTTE

Watering in the morning. We had a great coffee and Brest with Marmelade. Tough to be vegan on a mountain hut.
Short hike in the morning. Perfect with dog, some water spots on the way. Great views into The Valley.
Nassreithütte. New drink Schafgarbenschorle (explain what it is)
Toll gelegen am Fluss, Salat und viel aus eigenem Garten. Hühner, Ziegen, …
Mittags noch ein kleiner Ausflug den.ä Berg hoch. Toll ohne schweren Rucksack
Endlich mal wieder ein Cola Weizen. Bei anderen gesehen und direkt mein Getränk für den Urlaub entdeckt.
Super nette Bedingungen, extra Nudeln für Pepe (hatten irgendwie das Gefühl er hatte zu wenig zu essen).
Weiße Pfütze. Weißwein Schorle haha
Unsere essensplanung für Pepe war wohl doch nicht perfekt. Von daher hab’s noch leckere Nudeln vom Koch aus der Küche. „Der reshächt hab i scho an die Schweine gegeben“.
